A dark day with no sun
How can I smile, when I'm sad
Nothing going right
I was feeling so bad

Each step was a chore
Walking with my head down
Then I bumped into a stranger
He could see my frown

But he looked at me and smiled.....



All of a sudden my heart
felt a little lighter
It was just a smile.....
My steps felt like they could take me
an extra mile

Sadness lifted a little
I didn't feel as much pain
It was just a smile.....
I didn't even know his name



I started walking with my head up
There was nothing I couldn't face
It was just a smile.....
But I could feel a friendly embrace

Then I noticed
I started smiling at other people too
It was just a smile.....
People I never even knew



The strangest thing happened
I began to see
More and more people
were smiling back at me

I just kept smiling
And by the end of the day
Most of my sadness
had gone away



He was a stranger
He never even knew
How broken I was
And my day, he got me through

It was just a smile

You never know
how someone may be feeling
So remember, what I say
Just your smile
may be all a person needs to see
to brighten up their day
