Only if you listen to what people say
Only if you reach out with a helping hand
Only then will you completely understand

Only if you've ever rocked a babe to sleep
Only if you make promises you'll keep
Only if you slow down and take the time to wait
Only then will you learn to appreciate

Only if you take the time to share your heart
It is never too late to start
Only if you take the time to dry a tear
Then the meaning of life is clear

Only if you watch the ocean tide come in
And remember where you've been
Only if you take time to give a friend a call
Then you'll learn to cherish it all

Only if you give a little child a smile
Only if you stand up tall and walk that extra mile
Only if you speak words that are sincere
Then you know the reason we are here
