Snow falling, crisp chill in the air
I watched, as they so gracefully swayed
Ice Skaters, on the ice
Floating along, on that skinny little blade
Just how do they do that
With such beauty and grace
I put those things on
And landed flat on my face
Stand up again, for another try
Oh dear......
I didn't even get one glide in
There I go, right down on my rear
How hard can this really be
Try as I might and I really did try
"I'm not giving up !!!!"
I shout, with a victorious cry!
Slowly I stand up......
Trying to look graceful with a little flair
But those blades hardly touched the ice
They spent more time up in the air

Mind you ..... I was not alone
in this little endeavor
I had my "cheering section"
on the sidelines.....
(they think they're so clever)
I believe they wanted a good laugh,
"Let's teach Mom to ice-skate"
As soon as I put those things on my feet
I knew, I just sealed my fate
I ended up with bruises on my bruises
I even had bruises on places
that I didn't even know could bruise
And there they were, covering their faces
as they laughed
I yelled,
"BRING ME MY SHOES !!!"
I sat right there on the ice
and took those skates off
Because with them on....
I didn't get far
Into the trash can, they went
as I limped, my way, back to the car!!
